Permanent Residence

Over time a man wanted to know the cost of relocating to Canada from Nigeria with his family because he had no much insight about it, what did he do? He did what a normal Nigerian man who wants to know the total steps to relocating to Canada from Nigeria did.

And what was that? He contacted a self-acclaimed travel consultant. Only God knows if really he ever crossed the mainland bridge talk less of migrating to Canada from Nigeria. The said consultation put up a fee of $1,500+. That is about NGN400,000+.

It’s okay to think about it this way.

I know what you don’t know is what I will take advantage and charge you for, right? That is partly true but it’s sadly that a fee of 6 figures will be sunk into consultation alone. The question I was asking was if the consultation is NGN400,000 +, then how much will I have to start processing my visa?

Perhaps that is the story of someone reading this piece now, the good news is that you will learn all the fundamentals and systems that will get you ready for relocating to Canada from Nigeria with family. But before that, build your confidence with the Canadian Immigration Plan for 2019–2021.

Under this plan, Canada will welcome more talented workers with the skills and expertise to boost their economy needs, reunite more family members and accommodate more refugees looking to start new lives.’

But promise that you will NEVER seek ways to migrating to Canada illegally. Such as overstaying a visitor’s visa or making false asylum claims.

Why You Should Not Relocate To Canada From Nigeria

I wanted to say, let’s think straight but I realized that some say it is difficult (at times) to think straight in our dear country, so here is it. Should you relocate to Canada from Nigeria? Yes and No.

Yes, Relocate. Why and how?

Because we know leaving a shitty and poo labeled country like ours for a super better life in North America is worth it. I mean, you can’t just measure the parameters of staying in Nigerian when you can easily relocate to Canada, or why do you think more Japanese are leaving their country for Canada or even the fact that about 225,000 Indians Could Move to Canada by 2021?

No, Don’t Relocate. Why and how?

According to Emeviks who had been there since 2007,

“Don’t come to Canada with super high expectations or you will be disappointed quickly. If you have a great job with good benefits where you are, pls. stay there.

A lot of high skilled immigrants I’ve met as an employment counsellor who helps to find jobs in Canada are demoralized as they cannot find equal level jobs they left back home. Know this, your skills are not considered comparable. Period. You will start at the BOTTOM! Discrimination exists covertly”.

In case you are thinking about the right answer, here is it. All the above will not deter us from relocating to Canada from Nigeria. Let them do whatever they want, what we know is that we will do all kind of jobs. Lol. Even the politicians are not joking about Canada Relocation so why should we?

The conclusion is that, whether you decide to stay or relocate is up to you because no one can stop a DETERMINED HEART. But here is why the Canadian Government needs you.

Canada’s immigration program, as set out in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), is intended to “support the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy, in which the benefits of immigration are shared across all regions of Canada.” Canada sets an annual target for immigration and selects newcomers who best contribute to the country’s economic and social well-being.

With an ageing population and low fertility rates, immigration plays an important role in ensuring that Canada’s population and labour force continue to grow. Given that immigrant newcomers are, on average, younger than the Canadian-born population, immigration can help mitigate some of the challenges of an ageing demographic.

Also, immigration to Canada is a tool that can help to lessen the decline of Canada’s worker-to-retiree ratio. In 2012, the worker-to-retiree ratio was 4.2 to 1; projections put that ratio at 2 to 1 by 2036.

Canada Is Calling Out For 1 Million New Immigrants In The Next Three Years (Is that a fluke?)

I am yet to see an exciting country like Canada. Just on January 12, 2019 CNN reported it that Canada wants to welcome more than 1 million new immigrants in the next three years. And to think that Canada welcomed more than 286,000 permanent residents in 2017 and projects that number could reach 350,000 this year is amazing.

Do you know that moment when an uninvited visitor comes to your house and refuses to go so you can eat your Fried Rice alone, lol? Well, when I saw the above, I went ahead to do a research that will interest you. And what was that? I went on to see how other Canadians felt about the initiative. Here are some thoughts from it.

Prinny said,

“I have no issue with inviting people who are going to become members of the economic system of Canada. These 1 million are not the issue.

I have issues though when you invite multimillionaires to park their cash in this country as a form of money laundering especially into real estate who then CLAIM low income status, BUT own a 10 million dollar home in West Vancouver and ride our health care system into the ground and use all the social services that are available to those who are at the poverty line”

A response from Kebab,

“Yes, they are.

Who do you think I’m competing against when I want a house within 2 hours of Toronto? Or your kids? My mom spent half her life working in the textile district before working at Tim Horton’s. And everyone thinks she’s Filipino.

And FYI, this 1 million number doesn’t even account for the number of “students”.

Sheribon said,

Vancouver is a mess too, we don’t need any more people moving into an already over stressed housing market.

Another citizen asked,

“Why exactly does Canada need more people?”

A response from Gape,

People can’t afford to have kids so we import them.

Another response from a citizen, Fheymos,

“We don’t. But our virtue signaling Prime Minister, a man I deeply regret voting for and wish I voted NDP, cares more about fulfilling his science fiction ideology based daydreams, than about actual Canadian citizens. He wants to a savior for people who aren’t Canadian… while completely abandoning Canadians he is supposed to represent”.

Another response from a citizen, Jtbc,

“Demographics. The birthrate is too low to sustain moderate population growth, so if we don’t bring in more people, we’ll end up with too many old people, and a shrinking economy”.

A response from Nakee,

“Long-term national security, increases in innovation, larger domestic economic market. Canada’s probably going to want to gradually increase it’s population to ~100 million within the next century”.

A response from Caroline,

“Because of our large size and low population density public infrastructure/services are more expensive to deliver here. If we had a higher population density funding these services would be easier.

Additionally, our aging population has a low birth rate, right now we have 4 workers for every retiree but by 2030 that is expected to drop to 2 workers for every retiree which is just not sustainable. We’re headed for (already in tbh) a huge healthcare crisis where we won’t be able to take care of our population, there won’t be enough people to look after the elderly’.
